About Rocket Lab

Rocket Lab is a leading innovator in space systems, enabling crucial missions globally. Our Electron rocket has become one of the world's most frequently launched rockets since 2018.

We are seeking an exceptional Launch Safety Operator to join our pioneering team. This critical role ensures the safety and efficiency of launch operations for both staff and the public.

As a Launch Safety Operator, you will oversee procedure development, planning, system specifications, technical documentation, and compliance with licensing requirements. You will establish and maintain robust safety systems and be prepared for incident management.

You will collaborate with various teams during launch preparations and facility operations, interacting with stakeholders from different sectors. Your ability to understand their constraints and motivations will enhance cooperation and optimize launch availability.

This role offers a rare opportunity to contribute to the success of each launch and be part of our innovative journey at Rocket Lab.

Key Responsibilities

  2. Operational Asset Management: Direct operational assets, communicate effectively, and make crucial decisions to ensure a safe and timely launch, supporting range safety and surveillance.
  3. Safety Threshold Establishment: Apply in-depth knowledge of launch and facility risk profiles to establish safety thresholds for operations.
  4. Innovative System Development: Develop and implement innovative systems (hardware, code, processes) to meet operational requirements, involving multi-agency engagement as needed.
  5. Launch Operational Planning: Develop and maintain detailed launch operational plans, procedures, and manuals.
