About Awanui Labs
Awanui Labs - Queenstown is a leading provider of diagnostic pathology services to the community, healthcare professionals, and their patients. We are committed to delivering exceptional care through our facilities and services.
Our Patient Services Department is responsible for collecting blood samples and handling contained specimens from patients within the community and the hospital. These samples are then processed and tested in our state-of-the-art medical laboratory.
About the Role
This is a fixed-term part-time role working 48 hours per fortnight. You will work in our collection centres based in Queenstown and Frankton.
The key tasks include:
- Blood collection and handling contained specimens, i.e., human blood, faeces, and tissue, and preparing specimens for transportation.
- Providing professional customer service and serving as a link between health professionals, their patients, and the laboratory.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Demonstrate previous experience in a customer-facing role and a positive, friendly approach.
- Demonstrate cultural and social sensitivity and be sensitive to special needs.
- Be able to accurately follow detailed instructions and procedures in a fast-paced environment.
- Be highly motivated towards learning and development to develop technical competency in Phlebotomy and other specimen collection procedures.
- Have adaptable IT skills.
- Hold a current full NZ driver's licence.
- Be eligible to work in New Zealand.
