The Patient Services Department at Awanui Labs - Queenstown is responsible for the collection of blood samples and handling contained specimens from patients within the community and hospital.
These samples are processed and tested in our state-of-the-art medical laboratory.
About the Role
This is a fixed term part-time role working 48 hours per fortnight.
You will work in our collection centres based in Queenstown and Frankton.
Your key tasks will include:
- Blood collection
- Handling contained specimens (human blood, faeces, and tissue)
- Preparing specimens for transportation
You will provide professional customer service and serve as a link between health professionals, their patients, and the laboratory.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Demonstrate previous experience in a customer-facing role and a positive, friendly approach
- Demonstrate cultural and social sensitivity and be sensitive to special needs
- Accurately follow detailed instructions and procedures in a fast-paced environment
- Be highly motivated towards learning and development in order to develop technical competency in Phlebotomy and other specimen collection procedures
- Have adaptable IT skills
- Hold a current full NZ driver's licence
- Be eligible to work in New Zealand
