Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand Partly Full time

About Us

Partly is a global startup with a presence in Europe and Australasia. We provide a scalable digital infrastructure solution to some of the world's largest businesses and the most exciting startups. Our solutions are integrated across hundreds of companies globally, providing the backbone for cataloguing and managing parts online.

We've more than tripled our team over the last 12 months and expect to double in size again over the coming 12 months. This is an exciting time to join our team and contribute to our mission of connecting the world's parts and accelerating the world towards a sustainable future.

About the Role

We're seeking a talented Graduate Product Designer to join our team and play a critical role in shaping Partly's product experience and brand identity. You'll report directly to our Senior Product Designer and work alongside a talented team of engineers, product leads, and stakeholders to drive the evolution of our user interfaces, champion user-centric design, and strengthen the visual consistency of our platforms.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced startup environment where you'll have ample room to develop your skills, grow into a leadership role, and learn from an experienced team. You'll get to contribute meaningfully to a product that will shape the future of the auto parts industry.

Your Responsibilities

  • Be the voice of the customer, engaging with real users, customer success teams, engineers, and other decision-makers to understand customer pain points and opportunities.
  • Advocate for user needs throughout the product development process, ensuring that our design decisions are truly user-centric.
  • Collaborate on User Experience, translating project requirements and technical specs into intuitive, user-friendly interfaces.
  • Craft engaging, high-quality designs for desktop, web, and mobile applications, ensuring seamless adaptation across devices, platforms, and screen sizes.
  • Maintain and evolve the design system, developing and refining scalable patterns, components, and guidelines to enable efficient collaboration among teams.
  • Conduct customer interviews and brainstorming sessions to capture user insights, facilitate UX testing, define user stories, and manage diverse design responsibilities in a dynamic startup environment.
  • Utilize modern prototyping tools like Figma to create interactive mockups and flows, continuously iterating on designs, leveraging user feedback with Sentry to evolve and refine solutions.

Requirements

  • Fundamental understanding of design principles and practices.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn the basics of UX, interaction design, and visual design principles.
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and receive feedback constructively.
  • Proficiency in design tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or other prototyping tools.
  • Comfort working with design libraries and systems to maintain consistency across products.
  • User-centered mindset, passion for creating experiences that delight users and solve real-world problems.
  • Desire to engage directly with users, conduct UX tests, and iterate based on feedback.
  • Empathy for user needs, balanced with an understanding of business and technical constraints.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Ability to work cross-functionally with product leads, engineers, and other designers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate design decisions and rationale.
  • Open-mindedness and enthusiasm for sharing ideas in brainstorming sessions.
  • Adaptability in a Fast-Paced Environment: Comfortable with shifting priorities and the demands of a startup setting.

Why Join Partly?

We're a global team spanning both Europe and Australasia. We provide a supportive environment where you can collaborate, mentor, and learn from each other. We welcome applicants from all walks of life and are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team.
