The Role

As a Statistical Production Lead, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the production of one or more statistical releases. This includes working closely with Unit Managers and Analysts to assign tasks and monitor progress, coordinating release status reporting, and keeping key stakeholders informed.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for driving continuous improvement in statistical production systems and processes. This includes identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience, an understanding of economic statistics is an advantage
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to coordinate complex workstreams
  • An understanding of data processing and quality control processes, with a willingness to learn about statistical data releases produced by Stats NZ
  • An ability to solve problems under pressure
  • Great team-working skills with the ability to build strong relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain complex concepts in plain English
  • An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a willingness to learn and grow in Te Ao Māori
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in or outside of work
