About This Role

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of education in New Zealand. As a Curriculum Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting schools to develop high-quality teaching and learning programs.

With a focus on secondary education, you will work closely with teachers and school leaders to understand the new curriculum and NCEA design and support materials. Your goal will be to help learners develop the competencies they need for study, work, and lifelong learning.

You will be part of a regional team working collaboratively with schools, kura, and early learning services to:

  • Provide support on the development of teaching and learning programs, including assessment practices, to improve learning outcomes for all students.
  • Identify and deliver high-quality curriculum to meet the diverse educational needs of all students, with a focus on equitable achievement of student learning outcomes.
  • Support early learning services, kura, and schools to work alongside whanau, hapu, and iwi to reflect the aspirations of their tamariki in teaching and learning programs.

The ideal candidate will have strong curriculum design expertise and a deep understanding of teaching English and/or maths and Statistics, NCEA, and literacy and numeracy co-requisite (early learning, primary, or secondary). Experience with te ao Maori and understanding of Te Reo, tikanga, and matauranga Maori are also essential.

  • Skills in leading and motivating others, and the ability to challenge, facilitate, and coach kaiako and teachers to build capability.
  • Strong diplomacy, interpersonal, and facilitation skills, with an ability to adapt to different interaction styles and contexts.
  • A full current driver's license as travel will be required.
