About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Ophthalmic Specialist to join our close-knit team at Southland Hospital Eye Department. As a key member of our ophthalmology services, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our department.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing expert medical care to patients with ophthalmic conditions
- Participating in on-call rosters, routine clinics, and theatre sessions
- Developing and implementing new treatment plans and procedures
- Maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with patients and colleagues
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A specialist qualification in ophthalmology or equivalent
- Eligibility for vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- Experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings
