**Job Description**

We're looking for someone with solid experience in emergency management, particularly in complex or large-scale operational environments. You'll play a key role in developing and delivering our emergency management systems, processes, and frameworks across planning, training, and exercising. This includes ensuring we meet legal and regulatory requirements, and that our staff are confident and competent to respond to disruptive incidents and emergencies.

You'll work closely with people from all levels of the Department, so it's essential you're a confident communicator, both oral and written, who can build strong relationships to understand situations and influence accordingly. Experience writing and running desktop exercises, ideally for inter-agency response scenarios, is also highly desirable.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Develop and deliver emergency management systems, processes, and frameworks.
  • Work across planning, training, and exercising to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects and activities aligned to our work programme.
  • Support multi-agency exercises and represent the department in collaborative emergency management groups.
  • Facilitate working groups, develop guidelines and procedures, and build trusted relationships within the department and with partner agencies.

**Requirements**

  • Solid experience in emergency management, particularly in complex or large-scale operational environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and the ability to make good decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience writing and running desktop exercises, ideally for inter-agency response scenarios.
