Palliative Care Specialist

Mercy Hospice is committed to delivering exceptional specialist palliative care services. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our In-Patient Unit (IPU) team.
As a key member of our inclusive, supportive, and highly experienced IPU team, you will provide high-quality, patient-centred care to patients and their whānau. You will work closely with the Clinical Charge Nurse and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualised care plans that meet the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of our patients.
Job Responsibilities:
- To provide holistic care to patients, including pain management, symptom control, and emotional support.
- To work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless transitions of care between hospital and community settings.
- To participate in ongoing professional development to maintain current knowledge and skills in palliative care.
- To contribute to the development of new programs and initiatives that enhance the quality of care for our patients and families.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in nursing, preferably in palliative care.
- Ability to work 24/7 rostered shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Postgraduate certificate or diploma in specialty nursing practice preferred but not essential.
