As a Senior Financial Accountant at the New Zealand Ministry Of Economic Development, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting. The position requires a high degree of autonomy and independence, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for completing detailed monthly General Ledger Balance Sheet reconciliations for the Crown and Department together with Trusts entities reporting clearing outstanding items identified to ensure that reported results are complete and accurate.

You will also be responsible for assisting the Manager to ensure team responsibilities are delivered and actively challenging the status quo. The role has a specific emphasis on improving revenue accounting and ensuring these processes are effective, efficient and complied with.

Requirements

We are looking for:

  • A strong background in financial accounting, including revenue in a medium to large organisation
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • CA qualification supported by 5 years post CA experience or similar
  • Must have the right to live and work in New Zealand
