Job Description

We are seeking to expand the number of GP positions within our acute oncology department. As a Medical Oncology Specialist, you will be part of the Medical Oncology department within the Northern Regional Cancer and Blood Service, with very close links with radiation oncology, haematology, and palliative care services on the same site. The unit runs a tumour stream model of care with 24 full-time equivalent medical oncologists, advanced trainee registrars, and rotating medical registrars.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing care for patients currently undergoing chemotherapy who have suspected complications of treatment
  • Ordering, conducting, and interpreting a wide range of diagnostic and laboratory tests
  • Working alongside registrars and having access to a medical oncologist on a day-to-day basis

Required Skills and Qualifications

You will ideally have experience in contributing to excellence in research initiatives and/or interest in an academic position. You will be vocationally registered as a GP or medical officer with the Medical Council of NZ with a current annual practising certificate.
