About the Role
The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) is seeking a skilled Veterinarian to join our team as a Veterinary Technical Supervisor 2. This role is based at ANZCO Foods Canterbury, a beef, sheep, and bobby calf processing plant, where you will provide food safety, animal welfare, and biosecurity verification and certification services.
As a key member of our team, you will undertake verification activities in line with current legislation and organisational requirements, permitting the issue of official assurances. You will verify that requirements and procedures are being followed, provide certification for animal meat exports, and ensure animal welfare is being maintained.
This role requires strong analytical reasoning skills, verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders. You will receive full-time technical training prior to being warranted under the relevant legislation, as well as ongoing on-site training, mentoring, and technical support.
About You
To be successful in this role, you must be a New Zealand registered Veterinarian or be able to obtain registration with VCNZ. You will also require a full New Zealand driver's licence or be able to obtain one by converting your overseas driver's licence.
We are looking for an individual who demonstrates integrity, trust, ethics, values, resilience, adaptability, and openness. Experience persuading and influencing, teamwork, planning, and organising will also be highly valued.
