The Ministry for Primary Industries has an exciting opportunity available for a veterinarian to play an important part in the New Zealand public sector. As a Veterinary Export Specialist, you will issue export certificates for animal products to facilitate trade from New Zealand to overseas countries.

Working in our Verification Services team, you will undertake activities in line with current legislation and organisational requirements, thereby permitting the issue of official assurances. This maintains New Zealand's integrity as a trading partner and the Ministry's reputation as a competent authority.

You will work closely with the wider national Certification Team which includes 12 Veterinary Certifiers, Certification Audit Advisers, Specialist Advisers, and Administration Coordinators. Together, we will seize export opportunities for our food and fibre sector, improve sector productivity, ensure the food we produce is safe, increase sustainable resource use, and protect New Zealand from biological risk.

This is an office-based role at MPI Centre Christchurch, working Monday to Friday between 8.00am – 5.00pm typically, with a small amount of weekend on call on a roster shared amongst the team.
