About the Role

The New Zealand Government's health service is seeking a Clinical Coordinator to manage the day-to-day running of the Intellectual Disability Forensic Service. This role involves providing support to the Team Leader regarding staff rosters, leave and resource management, and coordinating the staff and clients' daily activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delegated responsibility for aspects of the Team Leader role
  • Clinical coordination of the unit activities daily
  • Maintaining and monitoring professional practice standards
  • Recognizing financial and resource constraints
  • Monitoring of annual leave and sick leave
  • Engaging staff in appropriate education
  • Actively contributing to Continuous Quality Improvement activities within the service
  • Working with colleagues in professional development activities
  • Participating in recognized post-registration education
  • Actively contributing to risk minimization activities within the service and identifying risks and suggesting improvements
  • Complying with policies and procedures
  • Complies with responsibilities under the Health & Safety in the Workplace Act 2015.

About the Team/Service

The Regional Intellectual Disability Secure Service (RIDSS) provides secure care and rehabilitation services for male and female adults and adolescents who have a diagnosed intellectual disability and have committed serious offences.

Requirements:

  • A postgraduate qualification in Nursing or working towards one
  • Minimum of 3 years post-registration working in a Mental Health or Intellectual Disability service
  • Current annual practising certificate
  • Registered with the NZ Nursing Council
  • Full current NZ Drivers licence
  • Experience in coordinating a team of clinicians and support staff
  • Experience in negotiation and networking across several disciplines
  • Experience in taking ownership, accountability, and responsibility for the role
  • Experience in anticipating, identifying, and resolving clinical and administrative/management problems to achieve desired goals
  • Experience in managing change
  • Experience in coordinating quality systems
  • Knowledge of intellectual disability is essential
