As a Graduate in the Building Consent team at Auckland Council, you will have the opportunity to launch your career and develop as a future leader or specialist. Our 2-year Graduate Programme aims to provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in this field.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with site inspections to review consented building work
  • Processing building consents
  • Conducting audits with our capability team

You will also be required to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong understanding of building codes and regulations.

We welcome applications from graduates in relevant disciplines, including Building Control Surveying, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, Architectural Drafting or Technology, Building Science, Engineering (Civil, Construction, Architectural), or relevant qualifications that meet regulation requirements.

To be eligible to apply, you must have the following:

  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand for more than 3 years without sponsorship
  • A minimum of a relevant bachelor's degree completed within the last few years
  • A valid NZ restricted driver's license with the ability to obtain a full license before the end of your programme
