Workforce Integration Specialist

This exciting opportunity is available within the Department of Corrections NZ, as part of our Reintegration team. Our mission is to empower individuals in our care to improve their work habits and increase their chances of obtaining sustainable employment after release.
About the RoleThe Release to Work (RTW) Broker will serve as the principal liaison for managing RTW placements and monitoring these placements at the site level. Key responsibilities include interviewing prisoners, escorting them to interviews, and proactively working with the General Manager and staff to optimize RTW placements.
This role requires extensive networking with community and business groups, as well as employers. You will be based at either Otago Corrections Facility or Invercargill Prison, with travel between sites involved. Your ability to lead and influence is paramount, as you liaise with prison teams and employers to enforce conditions of release and provide ongoing monitoring of the work placement.
Key Requirements- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of labour market trends to match job specifications with prisoner requirements.
- Be resilient while remaining solutions-focused, with excellent decision-making, professional judgment, and risk analysis skills.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with various employers, from government agencies to commercial networks.
- Have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both orally and in writing.
We offer a competitive salary range of $68,456 - $73,447, with anniversary-based progression once in the role. A full New Zealand driver's licence is essential, as you will be expected to travel in the area in a Department vehicle.
