Job Summary
This fixed-term (12 months) Principal Advisor – Investment role will lead a baseline review of investment across the family violence and sexual violence system. The successful candidate will work closely with agency partners to identify investments and understand their effectiveness, providing advice to Managers and senior leaders, and pro-actively managing risks and issues.

Your Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:

  • Designing and managing the process for the baseline review
  • Assisting with analysis of information and providing advice to Managers and senior leaders
  • Providing guidance on financial analysis and reporting requirements
  • Identifying opportunities for improved investment decision-making and efficiency gains
  • Working closely with agency partners to develop funding strategies and budget bids
  • Managing and mitigating risks associated with investments

What We're Looking For
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual with:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 6 years senior public sector experience with experience in large-scale investments and budget initiatives
  • Applied understanding of New Zealand government budget and treasury processes
  • Experience of developing funding strategies and budget bids
  • Financial analysis skills, e.g., cost modelling, economic analysis, and modelling
  • Knowledge of a social investment approach
  • Sound planning and organisation, including the ability to prioritise activities and plan to deliver critical milestones
  • Ability to actively manage dependencies, risks, and issues
  • Ability to translate complex information into simple, understandable concepts to enable effective decision-making
  • Preparation of reports and advice to senior leaders and Ministers
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Awareness and/or understanding of family violence and sexual violence
