About the Role

This Psychiatry Registrar position offers a unique opportunity to develop your skills in clinical psychiatry while contributing to the mental health and well-being of our community.

  • Work in a dynamic team environment with experienced Consultants, Registrars, House Officers, and Nursing and Allied Health professionals.
  • Collaborate with leading academics in the field and pursue research opportunities in mental health and addictions.

You will be supported by a director of training in every rotation, along with your consultant psychiatrist supervisor, to ensure your success in this role.

Job Description

As a Psychiatry Registrar, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of new treatments and therapies.

  • Develop and implement treatment plans for patients with complex mental health needs.
  • Conduct assessments and provide diagnoses for patients presenting with various psychiatric conditions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.

You will have the opportunity to work in a variety of settings, including Emergency Psychiatry Services, Youth Specialty Services, and General Adult Community Services.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or eligibility for general or provisional general registration.
  • A minimum of two years post-qualification experience and a strong interest in psychiatry.
  • A current full New Zealand driver's license.

Please note that it is a requirement of the NZ Medical Council that your qualifications are approved through EPIC. We recommend starting this process as soon as possible to allow timely registration.
