This role offers an opportunity to join the Campus Life leadership team as the Manager Student Conduct Service. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in managing student conduct and discipline matters, including sensitive and complex cases, providing expert advice, conducting investigations and working in discipline or regulatory matters, and complaints.

The Opportunity

  • Oversee the work of the Student Conduct Office to ensure timely and effective resolution of student conduct and discipline matters.
  • Lead investigations relating to student conduct and discipline, often involving complex problems and highly sensitive issues.
  • Advise academic and professional staff on student general misconduct, including formal, informal, and alternative discipline and conflict resolution processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, advise on, and manage student general misconduct and complaints in alignment with University policies, procedures, and statutes.
  • Undertake investigations, prepare reports and recommendations, and ensure appropriate communication throughout conduct cases.
  • Provide education and support to staff and student groups regarding behavioural complaints.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to promote effective service delivery and utilise best practice knowledge and expertise.
  • Develop and manage consistent processes for the management of general misconduct complaints and incident investigations.
  • Identify and recommend approaches to minimise risks to the University community.
  • Rigorous and accurate data collection on notifications, complaints, and incidents.
  • Provide specialised advice, correspondence, recommendations, and reports for senior management on student misconduct and discipline issues.
  • Liaise with elected student representatives to discuss improvement areas.
  • Contribute to policy and procedures, making recommendations for improvements based on experience.

About You

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about creating a safe and equitable environment for students. Strong skills in managing and influencing a diverse range of stakeholders, applying policy and legal principles, and working in a multi-stakeholder and multi-cultural environment are essential.

Excellent communication skills, both in person and in writing, are crucial, along with the ability to handle confidential information with diplomacy.
