About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Business Director to join our Northern Water team in Auckland. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for managing and growing existing contracts and relationships with private, local government, and state sector clients.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the Northern Water Business Group performance, people, and resources.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with clients (internal and external), Project Directors, and Project Managers.
  • Working closely with Market Leaders to agree strong market sector alignment for the business plan.
  • Securing and managing workload for the Group.
  • Providing support to Operations Manager and Finance Manager at month end in regard to invoicing and forecasting for Project Directors within the Business Group.
  • Providing leadership to the business group in line with GHD's values and objectives.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant university degree in an engineering discipline with at least 15+ years of working experience in the related field.
  • Ideally a Chartered Engineer.
  • Focus on client service, growth mindset, and ownership mentality.
  • Solid people management skills.
  • Strong technical background.
  • Understanding and adherence to GHD's values, Codes of Conduct, and Policies.
  • Proactive, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • A strong professional network within the region, self-motivated, and energetic, with a bias to action.
  • High attention to detail and tech savvy.
  • Passionately innovative, with a drive to continuously evolve the way we work to deliver successful outcomes for our clients.
  • High-level market awareness and business development skills with a strong focus on client engagement and ideally a well-established network of relationships across potential clients.
  • Hardworking, supportive, and motivating leader able to get the best out of your team and comfortable with mentoring and technical supervisory responsibilities.
