Rocket Lab is a global leader in launch and space systems, enabling some of the most ambitious and vital space missions globally.

Our Electron rocket has provided reliable access to orbit since 2018, becoming one of the most frequently launched rockets in the world.

We're responsible for bringing our new large rocket Neutron to life, from designing and testing its structures and components to firing up its new Archimedes engines.

The scope of the flight analysis team includes developing methods, software tools, data packages, and technical reports for flight safety, launch availability, and on-orbit operations.

  • Developing methods and assumptions for flight safety analysis
  • Maintaining in-house flight analysis tools, including trajectory and performance evaluation, debris modeling, and reliability analysis
  • Executing simulations, including 6 DoF and 3 DoF models
  • Quantifying failure probabilities using statistical models

We're seeking a skilled Flight Analysis Engineer II to join our pioneering team, working on exciting projects, delivering on challenging missions, and making an impact on the future of space.

Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain in-house flight analysis tools

Execute simulations and develop statistical models

Analyze large datasets and program in languages such as Python and C++

Maintain and improve in-house tools

General modeling and simulation

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification or 5+ years' experience in engineering analysis
  • Strong programming skills and familiarity with programming languages – Python, C++
  • Good understanding of launch vehicle flight dynamics, orbital mechanics, and GNC
  • Familiarity with configuration management and version control
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in engineering or science
  • Experience generating various safety documents, including flight safety data packages and compliance matrices
  • Experience with launch vehicle flight safety programs
