About the Job

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced economic modeller to join our team at the Treasury Te Tai Ohanga, a division of the New Zealand Government. As an Economic Modelling Specialist, you will play a key role in building and growing our capability in Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) modelling.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in economics and quantitative modelling techniques, with a working understanding of general equilibrium theory and familiarity with CGE models. They will also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain CGE models
  • Provide guidance and technical assistance to other staff members
  • Contribute to other priority aspects of the Treasury's work programme

Requirements

  • Graduate qualification or higher specialising in economics or a relevant discipline
  • Working understanding of general equilibrium theory and familiarity with CGE models
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team
