As a Fresh Produce Import Risk Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the biosecurity risk to New Zealand is effectively managed for imported fresh fruit and vegetables, cut flowers, and other plant products.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing the biosecurity risk to New Zealand for imported fresh fruit and vegetables, cut flowers, and other plant products.
- Providing technical advice to support the development and review of import requirements and standards.
- Collaborating with colleagues to achieve great outcomes for New Zealand.
- Building positive relationships and working collaboratively within a team environment.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need a strong understanding of horticulture and/or plant biology. You will also need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
About MPI
The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) is responsible for promoting and protecting New Zealand's primary industries. This includes seizing export opportunities for our food and fibre sector, improving sector productivity, ensuring the food we produce is safe, increasing sustainable resource use, and protecting New Zealand from biological risk.
