As an Operational Risk Manager, you'll have responsibility to perform Line 1 risk management duties and drive the day-to-day risk management activities of the New Zealand business.

The key objective of the role is ensuring that the first line risk and compliance arrangements are run in an efficient, effective and consistent manner. End to end ownership of Risk Events will be a key requirement of the role, along with close engagement across multiple stakeholders both internally and externally.

We are looking for a self-starter, an expert in developing risk capabilities and someone who is confident to carry out interactions with a wide range of employees at all levels of the organisation, along with regular communication with both clients and third parties.

Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Demonstrates responsibility for the management of incidents/risk events end to end including;
  • Maintaining the risk and events register in line with internal procedures.
  • Driving actions internally to ensure risk events are well managed.
  • Liaising with and providing guidance to internal and external stakeholders as required on risk-related matters.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across the business and risk to assist in the development and implementation of a robust control framework across the New Zealand business.
  • Advocate continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas for error/risk reduction, improved quality of services and systems, while considering the wider business strategy.
  • Produce regular reporting for clients, management and relevant governance forums.
What are we ideally looking for in a successful candidate?
  • Prior experience of a risk or compliance environment is desirable.
  • Prior or current experience in the financial services industry.
  • Sound knowledge of the NZ market with a good knowledge of either Kiwisaver or Wealth products (or both).
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and an aptitude to learn new/tailored applications or tools.
  • Proven ability to influence to achieve a desired outcome.
  • Good communication skills, confident in dealing with internal and external clients.
  • Able to take initiative and learn quickly in a dynamic fast-paced industry.
