About the Role

We're seeking a Portfolio and Programme Lead to support our team in delivering on its goals. You'll maintain a strong understanding of the pipeline of work and ensure that customer requirements are clearly defined and well planned. This role involves building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, acting as a key link between our customers and SCM teams, and commissioning these teams to deliver work that meets the needs and expectations of the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • BUILD STRONG RELATIONSHIPS WITH CUSTOMERS AND ACROSS ALL SCM TEAMS TO ENABLE THE SMOOTH TRANSITION OF WORK THROUGH FUNCTIONAL STEPS, ENSURING OPEN AND TRANSPARENT COMMUNICATION.
  • BRING A SOUND WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF PROCUREMENT AND CONTRACTING IN A SOCIAL SERVICE ENVIRONMENT.
  • WORK COLLABORATIVELY WITH THE MANAGER AND TEAM TO ENSURE PORTFOLIO WORK IS INCLUDED IN THE "ALL OF MSD" PRIORITISATION PLANNING PROCESS AND THAT SHARED SERVICES REQUIRED ARE IDENTIFIED AND OBTAINED.
  • TAKE OWNERSHIP TO ENSURE DETAILED PLANNING REMAINS CURRENT AND WELL COMMUNICATED.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • A relevant qualification or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in social service contract management or procurement operations, ideally in a large organisation.
  • Proven experience in delivering projects and programmes, including managing risks, analysing business needs, and achieving outcomes.
  • A strong understanding of legislative and policy frameworks, with the ability to apply them operationally.
  • Experience working with machinery of government processes, systems, and tools.
  • Solid understanding of operational policy and the factors that may impact it.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage effectively at all levels.
  • A proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships, including with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop practical, fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Ability to work at pace, balancing planned and unplanned work while maintaining high standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant communication tools.
  • An understanding of the social sector and social sector commissioning.
