The University of Auckland is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Molecular Medicine Specialist in Cancer Genomics to join our team.

About the Role

This fixed-term, part-time position (0.1 FTE) will see you working alongside clinicians, variant curators, and biologists to realise the strategic objectives of the Precision Medicine Initiative.

You will be responsible for facilitating and participating in the Multidisciplinary Molecular Tumour Board (MTB) Programme, helping to develop and run a multidisciplinary MTB that converts somatic variants into treatment decisions for people with cancer in Auckland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take responsibility for clinical interpretation of genomic findings within 1-2 cancer tumour streams that match your clinical expertise.
  • Maintain a database of molecular tests required for optimal clinical management in 1-2 cancer tumour streams that match your clinical expertise.
  • Contribute to research that pairs clinical insight with genomics to improve patient care in the longer term.
Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for an individual with:

  • MBChB or equivalent qualification.
  • FRACP or equivalent subspecialising in Medical Oncology.
  • Completed or considering a postgraduate qualification e.g., PhD, MD, MSc.
