Mental Health Services Director

About The Role
This role is a district-wide position, requiring travel within the Southern District. You'll work closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver specialised mental health services to youth involved in the forensic system.
As a Mental Health Services Director, you'll be responsible for overseeing comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including risk assessments for self-harm, harm to others, and vulnerability. You'll also participate in professional development activities such as CPD groups, journal clubs, and grand rounds. With our strong links to the Otago Medical School, you'll have opportunities to teach medical students and registrars.
Responsibilities:- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating pharmacological interventions, psychotherapy, and behavioural strategies.
- Prepare forensic reports and provide expert testimony in court, clearly communicating complex psychiatric concepts to legal professionals.
- Build strong relationships with young patients, taking into account their developmental stage, cultural background, and individual experiences.
You'll work closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality psychiatric care to young individuals within the Southern region. We're proud to offer a supportive and collaborative work environment where you can grow and develop your skills.
