The Position:

We seek an accomplished Executive Producer to lead the Seven Sharp programme. This role involves reporting directly to the Executive Editor, overseeing all editorial and leadership responsibilities for Seven Sharp. The primary objective is to deliver a high-performing programme that aligns with both editorial ambitions and agreed targets for quality, budget, and ratings.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Ultimate responsibility for Seven Sharp's performance, focusing on winning target demographics and achieving share and ratings targets in both linear and digital platforms.
  2. Collaboration with the Executive Editor to refine and deliver the programme brief.
  3. Leading the Seven Sharp team in producing high-quality shows that meet the brief, shaping editorial direction.
  4. Close collaboration with the digital team to optimize cross-platform collaboration.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in news journalism, preferably in television.
  • Ability to effectively manage audience and client needs.
  • Strong editorial management skills, coupled with high editorial integrity.
  • Effective leadership and people management skills, with a proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Solid news judgment and awareness of its application to various programmes.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and analyze new trends, implementing them successfully.
  • Ability to balance hands-on work with a big-picture view.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the industry, including legislative requirements, practicing codes, and NCA policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with television operational and production processes, including new technologies, would be beneficial.
  • Maintaining an excellent general knowledge and awareness of local, national, and international events and daily news developments.
  • Demonstrated experience in forming and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to challenge, negotiate, and influence stakeholders while maintaining relationships.
  • Capacity to operate in a fast-paced transformative environment, maintaining sound judgment under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Effective time and resource management, enabling timely delivery and staying within budget.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to listen effectively and deal with conflict.
