About the Role
We are seeking an experienced executive advisor to provide high-level support to the Minister. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of government policies and protocols, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to shaping government policies and initiatives. You will work closely with the Minister and their team to provide advice on various matters, including portfolio-related issues, responding to Official Information Act requests, and contributing ideas for the programme of the House of Representatives.
To succeed in this position, you must be able to think critically and strategically, with a strong focus on delivering results. A relevant tertiary qualification and/or previous experience working in a ministerial office or government department are highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic advice to the Minister on policy matters
- Develop and implement effective communication strategies to promote government policies and initiatives
- Support the Minister in responding to Official Information Act requests
- Contribute ideas for the programme of the House of Representatives
- Meet with advocacy groups and stakeholders to discuss portfolio-related issues
- Assist the Minister's staff in progressing government legislation
Requirements
- Strong understanding of government policies and protocols
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Awareness of te ao Māori environments and an understanding of building meaningful Maori Crown relationships under Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or previous experience working in a ministerial office or government department
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
