About the Role

We are seeking a Kaitohutohu | Advisor to join our team for a fixed-term period of up to 7 months. The successful candidate will work in partnership with agencies, organisations, and providers to assist them in monitoring and improving their services for Maori.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Working with stakeholders across iwi, public, and private sectors to improve services for Maori.
  2. Contributing to regional work programmes, including leading and providing policy advice on project-related issues significant to Maori and Government.
  3. Assisting in the development and management of investment proposals to strengthen Maori businesses.
  4. Providing advice to and working alongside Maori enterprise in the region.
  5. Acting as a conduit for information between Maori communities and other stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A love of korero and wananga, including sharing ideas with colleagues, agencies, businesses, and forming strong relationships.
  • Experience working alongside and advising Maori business/enterprise and working in the Regional Economic Development space.
  • Established networks in the region or the ability to build these quickly.
  • Strong critical reasoning, numerical, communication, and initiative skills.
  • Good technology skills, including using spreadsheets and databases.
  • An understanding of tikanga and comfort working in a kaupapa Maori environment. A degree of fluency in te reo Maori is beneficial.
  • A clean, full motor vehicle driver's licence.
