About the Role: As a Principal Advisor to the Associate Deputy Chief Executive, you will play a key part in shaping the future of the Ministry's Disability Support Services business group. You will work closely with the leadership team to develop and implement strategic direction and business planning for the Group. Your expertise will help align the Ministry's activities with government priorities and ensure the delivery of quality services to disabled people and tangata whaikaha Maori.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Working with the Associate DCE and the leadership team to develop and implement the strategic direction and business planning for the Disability Support Services Group.
  • Providing strategic advice on key issues, opportunities, and challenges for the Disability Support Services Group, ensuring alignment with Government and Ministry priorities.
  • Leading improvements in workflow, systems, and processes to enhance performance across the business unit.
  • Strengthening linkages between different Ministry programmes, ensuring effective planning, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Contributing to the development of a comprehensive work programme, providing critical thought leadership and technical expertise.
  • Mentoring and coaching team members, promoting continuous improvement across the business group and fostering a culture of excellence.

Ou pumanawatanga | What you bring: A strong background in strategic leadership, policy development, and programme management within the public or social sector is essential for this role. Previous experience working for a government funding agency, understanding and experience of supporting a constructive relationship with Ministers, and exceptional analytical skills are also required.
