Salary and Benefits

Competitive Compensation

Successful students can expect a starting salary ranging from $60,000 to $70,000 per year, depending on trip lengths. In addition to competitive pay, students will also receive accommodation and meals at no cost to them.

Job Description

Pre-Employment Training Programs

We offer a range of maritime training programs tailored to the needs of the industry. These include Advanced Deckhand Fishing, MEC5 and 6 Engineering license, and STCW Basic training programs. Our programs are designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in the seafood industry.

  • Our programs have high employment outcomes with New Zealand's leading seafood producers and exporters.
  • Students can go directly from our school into paid employment in the seafood industry, subject to vessel availability.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for our pre-employment training programs, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be aged between 17 and 24.
  • Be recently unemployed or mid to long-term unemployed.
  • Be looking to change careers.
