Our goal is to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with enduring mental illness, enabling them to recover and reintegrate into their communities.

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our team at Tāwhirimātea, working collaboratively with the Multi-Disciplinary Team to develop and implement individualised care plans.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of occupational therapy principles and practices, with the ability to adapt to changing client needs and circumstances.

About the Team/Service:
  • Tāwhirimātea is a 29-bed unit providing safe care and rehabilitation services to individuals with enduring mental illness.
  • The team consists of two Occupational Therapists and two Occupational Therapy Support Workers, working collaboratively to enhance the recovery process for individuals residing in the open inpatient setting.
About You:
  • You will need to be able to work collaboratively within a team; support nursing staff to ensure that individuals are engaged in rehabilitation activities.
  • You will bring your active listening skills and solution-focused approach to fostering tangata whai ora to achieve their identified goals within their pathway journey.
  • You will have the ability to take on new learning where required to support your role within the team as well as good communication skills with your team members, tangata whai ora, and whānau.
