About the Role

This role involves providing critical support to claimants who have raised allegations or concerns of abuse or neglect while in State care. As a Senior Claimant Support Specialist, you will be responsible for helping claimants navigate the Historic Claims process, providing guidance and mentorship to other staff members, and managing complex cases.

Responsibilities
  • Engaging with claimants to understand their experiences and providing feedback on the outcome of their claims
  • Providing support and guidance to other staff members to ensure they can effectively engage with claimants
  • Managing complex cases and ensuring timely resolutions
  • Culturally responding to the needs of claimants and their families, with an understanding of tikanga Māori and te reo Māori
Qualifications
  • A proven track record of working with individuals affected by multiple issues
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with claimants
  • Flexibility and resilience, with the ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
  • A creative and innovative approach to problem-solving, with a focus on delivering positive outcomes for claimants
