About Us
Tatauranga Aotearoa - Stats NZ provides data and statistics to support the decisions of Government, Māori and Iwi organisations, businesses, NGOs, and New Zealanders. Our work improves lives today and for generations to come. In this Data Engineer role, you will join a team creating and enhancing data platforms. You will report to a Technology Delivery Manager and collaborate with business stakeholders to develop and enhance our new data platform. The existing systems we support require knowledge of developing and maintaining three-tier architecture applications.

Key Responsibilities
As a Data Engineer, you will work closely with multi-disciplinary technology teams to help deliver solutions consistent with Stats NZ ICT architecture guidance. You will be responsible for developing and enhancing our new data platform, using advanced data processing tools and platforms. You should have recent experience in Databricks Lakehouse Platform, Python, PySpark, and SQL, as well as some experience in C#, Java, and modern Javascript web frameworks. Scripting experience such as Powershell is also desirable.
