About the RoleThis exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Anaesthesia Specialist to join our team at Palmerston North Hospital. The successful applicant will be responsible for leading and developing an area of special interest/sub-specialty in anaesthesia, with opportunities for professional development to facilitate completion of specialist training and preparation to becoming vocationally registered and a practicing Anaesthetist.
The role involves contributing to the anaesthesia on-call roster, with a dedicated anaesthetist available to assist and offer advice if needed. We have recently expanded our theatre complex to 9 operating theatres, 2 procedure rooms plus use of a theatre at our private hospital.
- Malignant Hyperthermia
Our team currently comprises of 26 specialist anaesthetists, 9 registrars and 2 introductory trainees. We cover almost all sub-specialties (except neurosurgery and cardiac surgery), allowing successful applicants to participate in the full spectrum of anaesthesia services provided by the department.
We can offer you:
- A diverse, dynamic and supportive team
- Opportunities to develop your skills and interests in perioperative medicine, airway, regional, paediatric and malignant hyperthermia anaesthesia
- One non-clinical session per week for training and development opportunities
- Two off sessions per week
- Six weeks annual leave and 10 days CME
- Relocation packages for national and international candidates
Successful applicants should be entering their final year of ANZCA training (PF year), Fellows of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists or have an equivalent overseas specialist qualification and be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
