Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and dedicated registered nurse to join the Queenstown Lakes Southland Southern Specialist Diabetes and Endocrinology Service Team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist working towards a Nurse Practitioner pathway in diabetes specialty.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide specialist nursing care and work towards acquiring expert knowledge base, complex decision-making skills, and clinical competencies to prepare for extended practice within a speciality area of practice/population group.

The role requires the candidate to be an integral member of the healthcare team who is working towards increased professional autonomy in collaboration with other health professionals to assess and manage clients within their clinical context using nursing knowledge and skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage client health needs
  • Provide specialist nursing care
  • Work towards achieving Nurse Practitioner status
Requirements
  • Three years full-time/0.8 FTE practice within the last five years
  • Level 4 of the local professional development recognition programme (level three working towards level four will be considered)
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications, minimum postgraduate diploma and preferably masters in nursing
  • Accreditation via or meets accreditation criteria of the Aotearoa College of Diabetes (NZNO) national accreditation process
