About the Role

We are seeking a Community Care Specialist to join our team of volunteers. As a Community Care Specialist, you will be working on an ambulance, providing emergency medical care to patients in their time of need.

Your role will be to provide care and support to patients throughout their journey, from initial contact to treatment and recovery. You will work closely with other members of the team to ensure that patients receive the best possible care.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A full and clean New Zealand driver's licence for at least 12 months or have completed an approved advanced driving course
  • To be 18 years of age or over
  • New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency status
  • A clean police record
  • To pass Hato Hone St John assessments, including physical assessment, health questionnaire, literacy and numeracy assessments and an interview
  • To meet our Medical Standards, which can be found here

You will also need to be available for regular duty and training, which includes approximately two 12 hour shifts and one training session per month.

About You

To be a successful Community Care Specialist, you will need to have a desire to help people in a compassionate and professional way. You will need to be committed to continuous learning and training, and be able to display excellent communication skills (written and oral) and great time management.
