Job Description

This role is part of the Risk and Recovery Unit / Te Wahanga Morea me te Whakaora. As the Strategic Recovery Expert, you will lead and support the development and implementation of the strategic national framework for recovery. This includes national planning, monitoring arrangements, providing guidance, and capability development.

You will also represent NEMA's position in advancing recovery with stakeholders, especially at strategic levels. This may involve working with central government agencies, local authorities, and other stakeholders to develop and implement recovery policies and practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to effectively present information to audiences at all levels
  • Flexibility of approach/thinking, able to adapt in constantly changing circumstances
  • Comfortable facilitating a collaborative work environment
  • An ability to deliver high-quality work output under pressure
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or an equivalent body of knowledge and experience
  • Understanding of recovery, emergency management, or a related area's theory and practice
  • Knowledge, understanding, and ability to interpret, develop, and apply national policies
