The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Executive Producer to lead the Seven Sharp programme. Reporting to the Executive Editor, you will oversee all editorial and leadership responsibilities for Seven Sharp. Your primary focus will be on delivering a high-performing programme that meets both editorial ambitions and agreed targets for quality, budget, and ratings.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Accountability for Seven Sharp's performance, targeting winning demographics and achieving share and ratings targets in both linear and digital platforms.
  2. Refining and delivering the programme brief in conjunction with the Executive Editor.
  3. Leading the management of all editorial output for Seven Sharp.
  4. Guiding the Seven Sharp team to deliver high-quality shows that meet the brief, shaping, and influencing editorial direction.
  5. Collaborating closely with the digital team to optimize cross-platform collaboration.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated extensive experience in news journalism, preferably in television.
  • Proven ability to deliver partnership content, managing audience and client needs effectively.
  • Strong editorial management skills, coupled with high editorial integrity.
  • Effective leadership and people management skills, with a proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Solid news judgment and awareness of its application to various programmes.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and analyze new trends, implementing them successfully.
  • Ability to work hands-on when required, along with taking a big-picture view.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the industry, including legislative requirements, practicing codes, and NCA policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with television operational and production processes, including new technologies, would be beneficial.
  • Maintaining an excellent general knowledge and awareness of local, national, and international events and daily news developments.
  • Demonstrated experience in forming and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to challenge, negotiate, and influence stakeholders while maintaining relationships.
  • Capacity to operate in a fast-paced transformative environment, maintaining sound judgment under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Effective time and resource management, enabling timely delivery and staying within budget.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to listen effectively and deal with conflict.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget and resource management.
  • Ability to conceptualize and implement practical solutions.
  • Tolerance of risk and ambiguity, coupled with the ability to manage change at all levels.
  • Decisiveness in decision-making, coupled with problem-solving skills.
