Empowering Senior Citizens through Therapeutic Recreation

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Recreational Therapist to join our team at Summerset Retirement Villages. As a key member of our community, you will have the opportunity to create meaningful activities that promote dignity and independence among our residents.

About the Role

This permanent, part-time position is based out of our Kenepuru village. Your primary responsibility will be to design and implement recreational programs that cater to the diverse needs and interests of our residents.

Responsibilities
  • Promote purposeful engagement through therapeutic recreation
  • Lead a culture of autonomy and independence
  • Encourage participation in recreational activities
  • Apply the APIED process for individual or group programs
  • Maintain quality control and assurance of recreational activities
Requirements
  • A sound understanding of holistic person-centered approach and high level of human awareness (empathy & compassion)
  • A passion for running individual and group recreational activities
  • Good communication skills and strong willingness to learn
  • Full NZ Driver License and ability to drive a Mobility Van
  • A Registered Diversional and Recreational Therapist is desirable
