Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand Rocket Lab USA Full time

Company Overview

Rocket Lab USA is a global leader in launch and space systems, providing reliable access to orbit since 2018 with our Electron rocket. Our next project, Neutron, will be an advanced 13-tonne payload class, reusable rocket for launching mega constellations.

We develop and deliver qualified, flight-ready space vehicle propulsion systems, taking ownership from mission requirement through detailed design, qualification, integration, and on-orbit operation. Examples include the Curie and HyperCurie engines, ESCAPADE spacecraft propulsion systems, and the Victus Haze mission.

Job Description

As a Development Technician in our Space Systems Propulsion team, you will collaborate closely with engineers to build and test hardware, including prototypes, tooling, test rigs, or flight parts. You will need strong attention to detail, technical curiosity, and eagerness to learn.

You will work independently with minimal instructions, thinking ahead to avoid problems and learning on the job daily. Most days will be varied, with different tasks coming up, but sometimes you may support production or perform repetitive work. You will have a deadline-driven environment where overtime is requested at times.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and technical curiosity.
  • Industry experience and NZQCF Level 6 trade certificate in Engineering, fitting and turning, welding, or electrical and instrumentation, or equivalent.
  • Machining, welding, electrical, or mechanical assembly experience and aptitude.
  • The ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with computer literacy.

Benefits

We pride ourselves on having each other's backs, checking our egos at the door, and rolling up our sleeves on all tasks big and small. We thrive under pressure, work to tight deadlines, and focus on delivering results rather than dwelling on challenges.
