About the Role
As a Probation Officer for Ara Poutama Aotearoa, you will play a crucial role in addressing criminogenic behaviours and reducing reoffending. Working closely with individuals and their whanau, you will utilise principles of manaaki, kaitiaki, wairua, rangatira, and whanau to manage community-based sentences and orders.
Effective communication is key to your success in this position. You must be able to relate to people from diverse backgrounds, possess excellent spoken and written communication skills, and be an effective team player who can motivate others.
You will contribute to public safety by viewing situations through the lens of manaaki, positive relationships, and the uplifting of wellbeing. By focusing on the individual's wellbeing, you will help reduce the likelihood of them returning to the justice system.
This role offers a unique opportunity to make a real difference in your community. You'll have the chance to build strong relationships, connect with people, and improve public safety.
