About the Role

Waitemata District Health Board is seeking an experienced Research Assistant to join our Māori Health research team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting and managing hospital data with the WHIRI databases, cleaning and preparing the data for analysis, engaging with key stakeholders, and contributing towards report writing and/or academic publication.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with researchers and clinicians to advance knowledge and improve outcomes for Māori communities
  • Developing and implementing data management systems to support research projects
  • Working closely with iwi and other stakeholders to ensure data relevance and accuracy
  • Providing data analysis and insights to inform decision-making

About the Team

  • Passionate about improving health outcomes for Māori communities
  • Strong understanding of Tikanga Māori, Te Ao Māori and Mātauranga Māori
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize tasks effectively

About You

  • Tertiary degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in health or research
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
