As a Horticulture Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to maintain and develop Hamilton's street landscapes, including daily maintenance tasks such as pruning, weeding, and watering plants. You will also be required to support gardening activities across the city, including working with trainees and apprentices. To be successful in this role, you will require a minimum New Zealand Certificate in Horticulture Services (Level 3) Amenity or similar qualification, a Grow Safe qualification, experience with traffic management set-ups and compliance, a current full New Zealand driver's license, and experience in the preparation and application of agrichemicals. In addition, you will need to have good knowledge of amenity plants, good communication skills, a solid work ethic, and an understanding of health and safety requirements working in this industry.
