About the Role

The University of Otago is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Payroll Manager to lead our payroll team. As a key member of our Human Resources Division, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions for approximately 4500 employees across all campuses.

You will have a strong understanding of current NZ employment law and HR practices, and be able to provide expert advice and guidance to stakeholders. Your leadership skills will enable you to build a high-performing team that delivers exceptional customer service and supports the achievement of our goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a busy and complex payroll operational function
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve payroll processes and services
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on payroll-related matters
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration
