About the Role

We are seeking to appoint Interventional and/or General Radiologists to our service at Te Whatu Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty. This is an excellent opportunity for medical professionals to work in a dynamic team environment, delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the growth and development of our radiology department.

Job Description

The appointee would join an amazing team of 21 Radiologists, 6 Registrars, Medical Imaging Technologists (MITs), administration staff, orderlies, and nurses. The Tauranga Radiology Department is well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including Interventional/fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, CT, General X-Ray, and a private MRI facility onsite. The Whakatane radiology department comprises two general rooms, a Siemens CT scanner, and two colour doppler ultrasound machines.

The radiology workload comprises general radiology, ultrasound, MDCT, angiography, and a range of interventional procedures. An on-call component allows us to offer a 24-hour acute service, with overnight reporting provided by teleradiology services. For General Radiology, a special interest in Paediatric and/or Chest imaging would be beneficial, though all areas of subspecialty interest would be considered.

In this role, you would also contribute to our general radiology component and general out-of-hours roster with overnight reporting provided by teleradiology services. While the role is based at Tauranga Hospital, there is a commitment to supporting services across the Bay of Plenty, including Whakatane Hospital.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • FRANZCR or a similar Postgraduate Radiology qualification
  • Either have or be eligible for general or vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council
  • For interventional radiology, previous experience/post-fellowship training in Interventional Radiology with the ability to perform RANZCR Tier B Interventional procedures
