About the Team

The Landowner Relations and Property Team ensures our physical access to the grid throughout the asset lifecycle. The team acquires property rights and land access arrangements for our assets, manages our property and property rights portfolio, and develops and maintains effective long-term landowner relationships.

About the Opportunity

In this role, you will lead, direct, plan, manage, and deliver all operational landowner relations and property services to internal and external stakeholders, aiming to deliver services and advice of the highest standard in line with our Landowner Relations Strategy and best practice. You will lead a national team of 6 who work closely with service providers, applying best practice to ensure 24/7 access to our assets and a seamless landowner experience. Your team also actively manages our property rights portfolio, managing tenancies, and ensuring our rights are protected, and obligations are met.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead a national team of advisors working with landowners and stakeholders
  • Bring your understanding of land-based regulatory frameworks
  • Work collaboratively with our service providers who maintain the grid
  • Ensure effective landowner relations and property portfolio management across Aotearoa
  • Naturally, the role requires some travel, with a geographically based team working around NZ, with some field-based work

What We're Looking For

  • You'll be an experienced people leader, with good working knowledge of land-related regulatory frameworks ideally underpinned by a relevant tertiary qualification
  • You'll be an expert communicator and relationship builder, able to engage with stakeholders from a wide range of backgrounds and be well versed in negotiation and dispute resolution
  • You'll have exceptional relationship management, influencing, and communication skills
  • You'll be skilled in effective dispute management, resolution, and negotiation
