About the Role

This role supports the medical and nursing/midwifery team by maintaining non-nursing/midwifery and administrative tasks, enabling staff to focus on delivering patient/family care in the service area. The ideal candidate will be available seven days a week, including mornings and afternoons, and able to work flexible hours.

About the Team/Service/Locations

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides level three neonatal intensive care services for the central region of New Zealand, including a 24-hour infant retrieval service. Level two neonatal services are provided for the Wellington metropolitan and Kapiti/Porirua areas. A neonatal homecare service offers transition nursing support for infants in the Capital & Coast catchment area.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparation and cleaning of equipment and rooms
  • Working with the imprest team to maintain NICU consumables
  • Supporting nursing staff with cleaning and restocking of clinical areas
  • Housekeeping and kitchen duties
  • Administration
  • Maintaining high standards of health and safety
  • Milk bank – cleaning and milk pasteurization

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Previous hospitality experience is desirable
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting is desirable
  • Computer skills
  • Good communication skills – written and verbal
  • Demonstrated administration and organizational skills
