Environmental Conservation Specialist

Tangram is dedicated to working with its communities to protect and renew our environment. As a Conservation Ranger, you will be responsible for conducting hands-on conservation activities in and around Nelson / Tasman. This role offers the opportunity to work within nature, giving back to the local community, and developing your conservation skills.
The ideal candidate will have some knowledge of native plants or pest plants, as well as previous practical field experience in conservation, agriculture, or forestry. A strong commitment to health and safety, high awareness, and good physical fitness are essential requirements for this role.
Key responsibilities include:
- Using light machinery and hand tools such as scrub bars, weedwackers, chainsaws
- Conservation maintenance work around water and wastewater sites
- Planting and after care of plants
- Track work and facilities maintenance
- Long term pest plant control projects
A full training program is provided for the various hand tools, light machinery, and chainsaws used.
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about the outdoors and has a genuine interest in environmental conservation. If you are physically fit, enjoy working as a team, and are willing to learn, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
